Chain Wear Calculator — When to Replace Your Chain
Calculate remaining chain life from wear measurement, mileage and riding conditions.
How We Calculate This
Chain Wear Estimation
Chain wear is measured as elongation (stretch) percentage. This calculator estimates total chain life based on chain type, terrain, and conditions, then calculates how much life remains from your current stretch measurement.
Stretch Limits
- 9/10-speed: Replace at 0.75% stretch
- 11/12-speed: Replace at 0.5% stretch
Replacing the chain on time is the single best way to protect your cassette and chainrings from premature wear.
